Trimble Tech History

Great buildings that move the spirit have always been rare. In every case they are unique, poetic, products of the heart - Arthur Erickson

Green B. Trimble Technical High School is a public vocational High School housed in an architecturally majestic and historic building in the Fort Worth Hospital District. Located on a 15-acre campus, our current building was built in 1917 by Sanguine & Staats to accommodate the growing number of high school students living near the southern part of town.

Home of the Bulldogs

Green B. Trimble Technical High School started in 1882 as Fort Worth High School.  In 1910, the school's original building burned to the ground, forcing classes to move to elementary schools; the new Fort Worth High School building opened in 1911 blocks away, on the corner of Jennings and Rosedale. That building is now a historic apartment complex called Homes of Parker Commons.

The building that now houses Trimble Tech was built between 1917-1918 by two construction companies: The Bryce Building Co. and the Wyatt C. Hendrick Construction Co. Fort Worth High School was renamed Central High School in 1918, just after moving to its current location. Trimble Tech was built to resemble the original Forth Worth High School that was destroyed by fire in 1910. Tech was one of the first school buildings in the state of Texas to have four floors. The school proved popular among Fort Worth students, prompting an expansion that included an auditorium and gymnasium, designed by W.G. Clarkson and Co. and built by Harry B. Friedman Construction Co. in 1926-1927.

In 1935, Central High School was renamed after longtime principal R.L.Paschal High School. Paschal High School still exists in the Fort Worth Independent School District, but was relocated in 1955 to the corner of Berry Street and Forest Park Boulevard, near Texas Christian University.

After the relocation of Paschal High School in 1955, the building was renamed Fort Worth Technical High School. The school saw a period of expansion during the next 12 years. In 1964 Tech became the first all-white school in Ft. Worth to admit black students. An increase in the size of the student body prompted the 1967 construction of a new academic wing on the east side of the building.

In 1967 the school was renamed for the final time to Green B. Trimble Technical High School in honor of its long-time principal Mr. Green B. Trimble.  In 1972 the property behind the school was bought. What was once Humbolt Street became the field house, football field and tennis courts. In 1980 a new gym in the rear of the building was also added. In 1998 a bond referendum was passed by the citizens of Fort Worth. Money allocated to Trimble Tech was used to add a new technology wing and cafeteria, the library was moved and renovated, a new band hall was built and the old library and band hall rooms were converted into additional classrooms. Today Trimble Tech is thriving and ever changing. With it’s unique history and great legacy we will forever be proud to call it the home of the Bulldogs!
